1
Check out the party venue to find out what types of decorations are allowed. If it is being held in the home, decide how far the family is willing to go with the decoration theme. This will help to focus the kind and amount of decorations used.
-
2
Decide whether or not to have a color scheme for the event. One option would be the pastels of Disney Princesses like soft yellow, pink, blue, pale green and coral. Another would be to go with primary colors like bright red, blue, yellow and green. Remain flexible enough to adjust the scheme if decorations can't be found in the original color scheme. It is also acceptable to leave the color scheme wide open so that basically anything goes.

Purchase or make and send out invitations announcing the party theme. Ask each girl to dress in royal attire. Assign every princess a "kingdom" over which she will rule for the party. Use the street on which she lives or one of her favorite things to do, like the Princess of Soccerovia for a soccer fanatic or the Princess of Daisy Lane for a girl that lives on that street.

4
Purchase throw pillows from a thrift store and cover them with fabric that fits the theme and color scheme. Make one for each attendee to serve as her individual throne. Decorate the pillow with lace, braid, tassels, beading or sequins to give each one a royal feel.
-
5
Pick up one or two costumes for those who might not have anything to wear to the party. Useful items can often be found at local thrift stores or borrowed from another child who has outgrown the clothing. Those handy with a sewing machine may even opt to make one or two simple royal capes for those who don't come in costume.
-
6
Buy or make a crown and scepter for each princess. Inexpensive, pre-made crowns and scepters can often be found at dollar stores like Dollar Tree or from an online party site like Oriental Trading. Better still, get all of the attendees together before the party to design their own crowns and scepters from poster board, or let the child being honored design them for her guests.

7
Use fairytale themes for decoration. Instead of crepe-paper streamers, draw flags to represent each assigned kingdom and hang them from the ceilings or tape them to the walls. Place the name of the princess ruler on each flag. Make curly foil streamers from ribbon and hang them along with glittered stars. Use rope lighting around the ceiling to add a royal sparkle to the event. Drape colorful fabric or inexpensive plastic tablecloths that match the color scheme around the room, or use it to decorate the table and chairs.
-
8
Blow up small balloons in the color scheme and place them around the floor. Inside of them, place additional party favors like children's earrings, necklaces and bracelets that the child who pops the balloon can wear with her costume.
-
9
Draw unicorns on foam core board. Color them and then cut them out. Rig them to stand around the party area so that each princess can have her picture taken with them.
-
10
Custom design each table setting to match the "kingdom" over which the princess rules. For example, for the Princess of Daisy, place a small bouquet of silk daisies at her place setting. For the Princess of Soccerovia, use miniature soccer items to decorate the place setting. Place inexpensive photo frames with pictures of the child rulers at each place setting. These types of items can be found at dollar stores and online party sites.

Tips & Warnings
Address each girl as princess during the party. Have a family member dress as a doorman to announce the arrival of each princess guest. Allow each princess to take home her throne, crown, scepter, flag and table decorations as favors. Provide a royal vanity where princesses can go to get their faces painted or to put on children's makeup. Carry out the theme in food and drink. Think about purchasing plastic cups and designing them to look like royal goblets for each princess. Use party poppers with colorful confetti to announce the arrival of each child ruler.
Be careful not to place balloons where children could trip or hurt themselves. Choose party items that are fire-safe. Don't force any child to dress up or participate in activities that she doesn't want to.
