Choose an album or binder that will be sturdy for years. A scrapbook album will work very well.

Select plain pastels or baby print acid- and lignin-free paper or cardstock for the 8 1/2-by-11-inch pages in your book.

Make a list of titles for categories to highlight in the baby memory book. You will want to have a series of pages for the baby shower, the birth, the hospital stay and first photos with family members. You may also want to feature a list of firsts--first smile, word, laugh and other special activities. A "My Health Record" page is important to record shots and doctor visits as the baby increases in weight and height.

Make titles for the pages that you are planning. You can place stickers, die cuts, printed fonts or hand-written titles directly onto the paper or use small paper title mats. Attach the titles to the pages in your book.

Decorate the memory book pages with stickers or die cuts that are found among the scrapbooking supplies at many stores.

Adhere a clear pocket or envelope to one page. This will be for a bit of hair from the first haircut.

Place the pages into page protectors and fill the binder or scrapbook. The pages will be ready for photos and Mommy or Daddy's handwritten records of the events in the life of the new baby.
