Instructions

    • 1

Purchase heavy duty plastic spoons, chocolate and other supplies from your local grocery store. If you are making favors for more than a few people, it may be more convenient to purchase these supplies at your local BJ's, Costco or other food warehouse store so that you can buy in bulk. Purchase ribbon at your local craft supply store.

    • 2

Place chocolate chips in a glass measuring cup and microwave for 1 1/2 to 2 minutes, or until the chocolate is melted. Stir the chocolate until it is smooth.

    • 3

Dip each plastic spoon into the melted chocolate. Be sure that the entire base of the spoon and about 1/4 of the stem is covered. Shake off excess chocolate and lay your spoon on wax paper. Place in refrigerator to harden. If chocolate becomes hard, repeat the melting process.

    • 4

Once the chocolate is hardened on the spoons, place white chocolate chips in a clean glass measuring cup and heat until melted. Stir melted chocolate until smooth. Using a clean plastic spoon, drizzle melted white chocolate over dipped spoons. Place them in the refrigerator to harden.

    • 5

When spoons are completely hardened, cut out a 6-by-6-inch square piece of plastic wrap for each spoon. Place the spoon in the center of the square and gather the plastic wrap around it. Fasten plastic wrap by tying a ribbon around it along the stem of the spoon. Place finished spoons in a glass vase.

Tips & Warnings

  • Keep your spoons refrigerated until ready to use. If you have a special color selected for your party, shake sugar sprinkles in that color over each spoon before the chocolate hardens.

  • Exposure to heat could cause your chocolate to melt.
