Increase your odds of making a slot machine pay out.

There are all types of speculation involved in how to increase the odds of making a slot machine pay out. While you can't actually change the odds already programmed into the chip, you can change your odds for payout by following these suggestions.

From Quick Guide: Playing Slot Machines
Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Watch for people collecting. Even though casinos deny that they know when machines pay, they all seem to pay at certain times. When you go into a busy casino, walk around for a while and watch. Sit down in an area where the machines seem to be paying out quite a bit. Sometimes you'll find specific banks of machines are paying all at the same time.

  2. Step 2

See what denomination pays the best. No matter how many dollars you put in a penny slot machine, sometimes it doesn't seem to pay. Payouts for higher denominations are normally higher. That's because each space on the casino floor needs to make a specific amount of money. It takes a smaller percentage on dollars to make the necessary money.

  3. Step 3

Check the payout table and percentage of the machine payback. Some machine banks have big signs saying "99 per cent payback." Hit those machines. Check the payback table on the machine. If two of the same machines are the same, except the payouts for specific symbol combinations are less, play the one that pays more when you hit a winning combination.

  4. Step 4

Test your machine. Play the slot for about 10 spins. If you don't hit anything, chances are it may be tight. If it's a multi-coin and multi-line machine, test various combinations. Start at 1 coin per line and work up to as many as your budget allows. Sometimes a machine pays better on lower coins per lines and on higher coins at other times. If you see someone leave a machine that recently won small payouts, try that one. Often when machines are in win modes, they continue to pay.

  5. Step 5

Adjust the speed of your spin. A random number generator controls the payout of the slot machine. If a fast pace isn't paying, slow it down. By decreasing the number of pulls per minute, you also decrease the losses.

  6. Step 6

Scoot to the next machine. Most of the time two high paying machines aren't next to each other. Switch to a different machine to increase the odds of making a slot machine pay out.

  7. Step 7

Proceed with caution on the multi-line, multi-coin video slots. Video slots entertain the player, but the reel slots pay more. Also watch out for progressives. Unless you hit the progressive, the other winning combinations occur less frequently.
