The only thing that beats a warm, relaxing bath at the end of the day is a bath that also softens your skin and harnesses the healing power of essential oils. Enter: bath oil beads. You can either buy them or DIY—they're actually pretty easy to make with a few specialty ingredients available at health food markets and drug stores. This recipe yields approximately 10 to 20 beads depending on their size.

Finely grind Epsom salt and sea salt in a clean coffee grinder or spice mill.

Combine baking soda, citric acid, corn starch, goat milk powder and the ground salts in a small mixing bowl. Mix thoroughly.

Combine cocoa butter with virgin coconut oil in a small saucepan. Heat the mixture over low heat, stirring occasionally, until completely melted.

Stir the melted cocoa butter and coconut oil slowly into the dry ingredients.

Add essential oil or a combination of essential oils of your choice, and mix thoroughly.

Using your hands, form the resulting mixture into several small, round bath oil beads. These can be any size you like, but the smaller you make them, the more you'll need to use per bath.

Store the bath oil beads in a glass jar with a tightly-fitting lid, and keep them in a cool, dry place.

Add a handful of bath oil beads directly to warm or hot bathwater. Slip into the tub and enjoy.

Tip

You can use regular powdered milk instead of goat's milk powder, if necessary or desired.

Choose essential oils for your skin type. Try lavender for normal skin, rose for dry skin and lemon for oily skin.

Warning

Be careful when you enter the tub because the beads can make the bottom slippery.
