Instructions

Take some digital photographs of your child. If you take several shots, you will be sure to get at least a few good ones. Try to get one of the child's natural smile, a full length picture and a photograph of them without a smile. This will show agents a few different looks. Don't stage the photographs, as agents can spot that a mile away and will typically reject a child based on those types of photographs. Print several copies of each photograph.

Look up some local, reputable agencies (see Resources below). You may need to venture out a little bit to find agencies in larger cities, by try to keep within a 2-hour drive. Any agency that charges for modeling classes are generally not reputable. An agency should charge you nothing upfront. Some agencies nowadays do charge a small fee to be listed on their website, and while that opens up a lot more job possibilities, this should be optional.

Send a letter to local agencies telling them about your child and their desire to model. Include at least 3 photographs, but not more than 5. Don't expect to get these pictures back, but you can include a self-addressed stamped envelope. Include information such as age, height, weight and sizes.

Watch for local opportunities for your child on your own. These can be listed online, in newspapers or at local stores. Many large malls offer runway shows for back to school sales. Call every mall in your area in early July to inquire about these. Other places to watch for modeling opportunities for your child is Craigslist, but be very careful about answering ads here,as there are many legit ones, but also scams as well.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make sure your photograph of your child is recent and clear.

  • Don't pay for modeling classes upfront. It isn't necessary, no matter what they tell you.
