Peacock feather earrings are a great accessory because they are versatile. Depending on the outfit they're paired with, they can be classy or funky. But peacock feather earrings can also be expensive. Luckily, they can be made easily and inexpensively. For the price of one pair of peacock feather earrings in an accessory store, you can make a pair for you and each of your friends.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Hook earwires
  • Fishing line (or thin jewelry wire)
  • Beads of your choice (one must be big enough for the feather to fit through)
  • Hot-glue gun and glue
  • Small scissors or nail clippers
  1. Step 1

Chose a sequence of beads to go over the hard, pointy spine of the feather. Trim the feather spine if necessary. You need to be able to fit the feather and two pieces of fishing line through the bead holes. Once you have chosen your beads, set them aside.

  2. Step 2

Cut a length of fishing line three times the length of your beads. Thread the line through the earwire loop, letting the earwire dangle in the middle of the line like a necklace.

  3. Step 3

Grasp both ends of the line and thread them together through the beads. Push the beads up to the earwire loop. You should have what looks like a dangling beaded earring with two ends of excess fishing line hanging from the bottom.

  4. Step 4

Dab a small drop of hot glue on the end of the peacock feather spine. Quickly push the spine into the center of the beads. Make sure there is enough glue to full the bead and secure the feather and the fishing line to the inside of the beads. Hold everything in place for at least 30 seconds to be sure everything is secure and the glue is dried.

  5. Step 5

Use small scissors or nail clippers to cut the extra fishing line. It should be even with the bead and not visible.

  6. Step 6

Clean any excess hot glue with the nail clippers. Repeat these steps to create the second earring.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can use thin jewelry wire instead of fishing line. Try using other types of feathers with this design to create different looks.
  • Hot glue and glue guns get extremely hot. Use caution to avoid burns on your fingers.
