Learning Arabic Via the Internet

If you are interested in learning Arabic but don't have the time to take a formal class, you can learn the language via the internet. There are many websites and applications available in a wide variety of prices, including some that are completely free. No matter which route you take, soon you will be able to read, write and speak Arabic.

From Quick Guide: Introduction to Arabic
Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Access the Madinah Arabic website (see Resources below). Click on the "Arabic Reading Courses" link. Start at the beginning with "Lesson 1." Click each lesson and follow the guidance in each one until finished, all the way until Lesson 18. This will teach you how to read Arabic script. Then click on the tab for "Arabic Language Courses." Go through the lessons, just as you did in Step 4, until you are finished with each one.

  2. Step 2

Take in-depth college courses that involve tuition costs. One college that offers online courses and uses Rosetta Stone software is AMU, also known as APUS. The tuition rate is $250 per credit, and the courses are 3-credit hours lasting 16 weeks each (see Resources below).

  3. Step 3

Learn Arabic online by yourself. Rosetta Stone offers online courses that start at around $200 for 6 months. They also offer CD courses that begin at $259 (see Resources below).

Tips & Warnings
  • If price is somewhat of a problem, choose a lower-priced online class and supplement with free online classes.
