1
Scrub and clean a sink or dishwashing tub, if it isn't clean already. It needs to be free of dirt and grease so that any residue will not stick to the bowl while you are washing it. Grease grabs onto glass very easily, and it is more difficult to get it off of the slick glass surface. Once the washing tub or sink is clean, fill it with hot water. Squirt some liquid dish soap in the water while it is running, so it makes lots of sudsy bubbles in the hot water.

Rinse the bowl off first to remove any loose dirt or food. If there is food or dirt crusted on the glass, set the bowl in the water to soak for about 20 minutes. Then scrub the glass using a clean soft kitchen wash rag, a nylon scrubber or kitchen sponge. Don't use heavy duty, scratchy scrubbers or pads made of steel wool or rough metal scrubbers. They may scratch the surface of the glass and ruin the look of the bowl. Take the bowl out of the soapy water. Rinse the bowl with clear warm or hot water to get all the suds off.

Dry the bowl by using a clean dish towel. Hold one side of the bowl with the dish towel and use your other hand to dry the bowl inside and out with the other part of the dish towel. By keeping the hand that is holding the bowl on top of the dish towel, you will keep fingerprints off of the glass bowl while you are drying it. You can put the bowl on a drainer on the countertop, but you are more likely to get spotted glass that way.
