How to Make a Web Page for Free With Yahoo
Yahoo! offers free websites and web hosting through its GeoCities site. Users can use the site to post personal websites or sites to promote their small business on the Internet. Before you can create your free GeoCities Web page, you will need to create GeoCities accounts. After you log into the site, you will be able to create your Web page using the templates in Yahoo! PageBuilder.

Creating a GeoCities Account

Open a Web browser and go to the Yahoo! GeoCities website (see Resources below). Click on the "Free GeoCities Website" link.

Sign into the site with your Yahoo! ID or create a Yahoo! user ID using the link on the page. After you sign in, you will be automatically directed to your personal GeoCities website control panel.

Click the "Create a Website" link on the control panel.
Using Yahoo! PageBuilder

Click on the "Try PageBuilder" link.

Browse through the Web page templates. The templates include different page layouts and themes such as pets, baby pages, kids, hobbies and personal ads.

Click on the template you wish to use. Two windows will open on your computer screen. The first one will be a small pop-up box, and it is important to keep this window open until you are done using PageBuilder. The larger page that opens is your PageBuilder work screen.

Type text onto your Web page by double-clicking in the text box. Back-space through the text that is already in the box to delete it. Change the text font type, color and size by using the text toolbar on the top of the Web page. When you are finished adding text to the page, click the "Save" button located on the main tool bar.

Insert a picture in the Web page by double-clicking on the picture space in the Web template. Click "Upload" to insert an image stored on your computer, and then click "Browse" in the upload box. Open the folder where you have your images stored, and select the image and click open. Click "Upload" and "OK."
Select the picture in the "Select Picture" box under "Picture List." Click "OK" to insert the picture onto the Web page. Resize the picture by clicking and dragging the anchors on the box surrounding the picture. Move the picture by clicking in the middle of it and dragging it to its desired location. Click "Save" when you are finished editing the image.

Include add-ons on your Web page by clicking the "Add-on" tab on the main tool bar. There are a variety of add-ons to choose from, including page effects, news or weather headlines, guest book and online notification. Click "OK" to add one to your page.

Preview your page by clicking the "Preview" button in the main toolbar. Your Web page will open in a new window. Close the window to return to the PageBuilder work screen.

Click "File" when you are finished creating your Web page. Click "Save," type in a name for the page in the pop-up box and click "OK." Click "OK" to preview and publish your Web page to the Internet.

Tips & Warnings
If you close the small pop-up window in PageBuilder, you will lose all of your work.
