Decorate With Balloons for Quinceaneras

A quinceanera is a lavish event that celebrates a young woman's 15th birthday. In the Hispanic culture, this special day is a rite of passage because the teen enters womanhood. Many quinceaneras use a "Princess" theme. Use castles, crowns, tiaras and magic wands on invitations and decorations. Once you have selected the colors of the theme, use balloons to create elegant and sophisticated decorations. Balloons are also ideal if you are on a tight budget. Here are some great ideas to try with balloons.

Things You'll Need:

  • Balloons Helium Curling ribbon Vase Flowers Bag Tissue paper Candy Christmas lights Tulle Gossamer
  1. Step 1

Create balloon bouquets to use as centerpieces on the tables. Fill two to seven balloons with helium and tie them together with ribbons. Curl the ends of the ribbon. Arrange balloons of different heights and attach to an item such as a floral vase. Fill the floral vase with her favorite flowers. An alternative to a floral vase is stuffing a colorful bag with tissue paper. Fill the bag with candy so it will be heavy enough to hold the balloon bouquet.

  2. Step 2

Place a balloon arch at the entrance and exit of the room. Use white Christmas lights, shiny ribbons or tulle around the arch. Christmas lights used in balloon arches can give the room a fairy tale effect.

  3. Step 3

Place balloon columns at the head table of the birthday girl. Tie three to five balloons in clusters and attach them to a sturdy metal or plastic pole with nylon line. This pole should have a base that is sturdy and can act as an anchor. Use bigger balloons for the bottom and smaller balloons in between. Continue to create layers of balloon clusters until the pole is covered.

  4. Step 4

Tie a couple of balloons to the backs of chairs. Use tulle or gossamer to create big bows that drape across the top of each chair back.

  5. Step 5

Define the dance floor. Place tall balloon columns at the corners of the dance space. You can create a canopy by connecting these four columns with tulle. Balloons can also be scattered throughout the dance floor. Allow helium balloons with curling ribbon to float to the ceiling.
