Remove Paint Primer From Your Hands

Primer is what you put on your walls to get it ready to paint. You apply it with a paintbrush or roller, just asn you would if you were painting. When you apply the primer, it is almost impossible not to get some on your hands, especially if you are using a brush. Getting primer off your hands can be tricky, but it is not impossible.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Citrus fruits
  • Exfoliant
  • Loofah
  • Baby oil
  • Soap
  • Butter
  1. Step 1

Purchase a facial cream that contains an exfoliant. The beads in the facial cream will break up the primer you got on your hands. If you don't have an exfoliating facial cream, you can make one out of hand lotion and sand. Rub it on your hands, then run them under a faucet of warm water. If you missed any spots, repeat.

  2. Step 2

Get a bowl of citrus fruits. Citrus fruits are acidic, and they can eat away at the primer. Cut the citrus fruits with a knife and squeeze the juice over the primer on your hands. If you have primer on both hands, you may want a friend to squeeze the juice on them for you. Give the juice a minute or two to work, then wash it off with a washcloth. Rinse your hands under a faucet. If you don't want to smell like the fruit, you will need to wash with some soap.

  3. Step 3

Pour a bottle of baby oil into a bowl. Stick your hands in the bowl, wait about 3 minutes and then lift your hands out of the bowl. Place a washcloth over each hand, then watch as the primer comes off all over the washcloth. Use some dish soap to wash away the oil when you have successfully removed all of the primer.

  4. Step 4

Leave a stick of butter out on your counter until it becomes soft. Spread it all over your hands; you will be able to peel the primer right off. Use a dish soap that is made for grease to wash off the butter.

  5. Step 5

Try good, old-fashioned hand soap and water. The trick is to use a loofah with the soap and water. First lather up your hands, then start rubbing the loofah over the spots that have the primer. Rinse under a running faucet of warm water. Repeat if all of the primer didn't come off the first time.

Tips & Warnings
  • Wet primer is easier to get off. Try to wash it as soon as it gets on you for the best results.
  • If you are considering using paint thinner--don't. It is a chemical that is dangerous to your skin.
