Instructions

      Bookmarks in the menu bar

      With Firefox launched and active in the Finder, click on "Bookmarks" in the Mac menu bar. Drag the cursor to "Organize Bookmarks" and release the mouse to activate the "Organize Bookmarks" Firefox preferences.

      Select the "star" icon in the "Library" menu bar of the Firefox Preferences pane and drag to select "Backup." Release the mouse to begin the bookmark-backup process.

      Watch for a new "Save" dialog window to pop up. Select the directory to which you want to save your Firefox Bookmark backup and click the "Save" button to save the file.

      Know that you can also save your bookmarks as an HTML file. Start this process by clicking on the "star" icon in the "Library" menu bar of the Firefox Preferences pane and drag to select "Export HTML." Release the mouse to begin the bookmark-backup process. Select the directory to which you want to save the exported HTML bookmarks and click "Save."

Tips & Warnings

  • Import the bookmark backup by reversing the export process. Select the "star" icon in the "Library" menu bar of the Firefox Preferences pane and drag to select "Restore/Choose a File." Release the mouse; an open file dialog box will appear. Select your backup file and import the file to restore your bookmarks.
