Instructions
-
-
1
Cover the bottom of the saucer with a thick layer of salt.
-
2
Wet the rim of your serving glass by running it briefly under the faucet and blotting it for a second on a towel.
-
-
3
Set the rim of the glass in the salt plate and let it stand there until you are ready to pour your drink.
-
4
Fill the pint glass halfway with ice.
-
5
Pour a shot glass full of tequila into the glass. Then refill the glass halfway and add that to the shaker. (This means you have measured out 1 1/2 ozs. of tequila for the drink.)
-
6
Fill the shot glass three-quarters full with triple sec and add it to the mixing glass. (This is a three-quarter-oz.)
-
7
Pour the sour mix into the glass and fill it about halfway.
-
8
Cap the glass with the tall metal shaker. Hold both ends firmly in each hand, and shake the drink back and forth for about 10 seconds.
-
9
Set the drink back on the counter, shaker side down. Remove the pint glass and sit your strainer on top of the shaker. The coiled side of the strainer should be sitting inside of the shaker.
-
10
Remove your serving glass from the salt plate and pour the margarita into it through the strainer.
-
11
Garnish the drink with a lime wedge.

Tips & Warnings
The better the grade of your tequila, the better your drink will taste. Some recommended premium brands of tequila are Patron Silver, 1800 Select Silver, Cabo Wabo Blanco and Don Julio Blanco. You can get away with not using a top-shelf brand of triple sec since the sour mix gives the drink plenty of sweetness.
