Decide what you will be using the heater for. Radiant heaters aren't a good choice for heating an entire room; an ideal location is under your desk to keep your feet and legs warm. Ceramic convection heaters are best for heating a small room or office over a short period of time. An oil-filled convection heater is the most economical choice for a larger room or for longer periods as the oil will store some heat and allow the heater to cycle rather than constantly use electricity.

Look for a heater with a remote control, so you can avoid having to get up to turn the heater on or off.
Tips & Warnings
Radiant heaters get very hot and are not a good choice if children are present. Only heavy-duty extension cords may be safely used with space heaters.
