Block a Phone Number on Verizon

The Verizon telephone service offers a feature called Per Call Blocking. This feature allows you at no additional cost to your Verizon phone bill to block your identity when you make a phone call from your Verizon telephone. It's important to note that the Per Call Blocking feature on Verizon phones does not work on calls to 911 or to toll-free phone numbers. When you block your number from a Verizon telephone, the caller ID of the receiving telephone reads "Restricted."

Instructions

    • 1

Pick up your Verizon telephone handset and dial *67. This is the code for Verizon to block the identity of the telephone from which you are calling to the person you are calling.

    • 2

Dial the area code and the phone number of the number you want to dial using Verizon's Per Call Blocking feature.

    • 3

Wait for the phone to ring. You have now called the person using Verizon's Per Call Blocking feature. Neither your name nor your telephone number are appearing on the caller ID of the person you are calling.

    • 4

Hang up and use your Verizon phone without dialing *67 to dial someone as you normally would, allowing for your identity to appear on the call receiver's caller ID display. In order to use the Verizon Per Call Blocking feature, you must dial *67 each time you dial the phone in order for the phone number to come up as "Restricted."
