How to Cast a Powerful Spell

If you've tried casting spells before, and you were unhappy with the results, don't give up hope. Magic requires more than just the ability to rhyme or wave a wand over a candle. Magic comes from the energy you are able to raise in the right state of mind, using the appropriate tools to help you focus. In order to perform powerful magic that works, there are some things the spell caster needs to learn and keep in mind.

Preparations

1. Practice meditation regularly. Magic is most effective when we are in the ALPHA state, or a state of relaxed awareness when our brain waves are slower than when we're going through our normal day, but faster than when we're sleeping. Meditating regularly will help you alter your state of consciousness at will.

2. Write spells yourself. This gives the spell your own personal power. Magic is the focus of the will. Muttering ancient words you don't understand may sound mystical, but in reality it is not helping your concentration; you must know what you're saying to apply your willpower properly. Keep a book to record your spells, and also record any information you find in research or that you learn through experimentation.

3. For your spell, gather the tools that mean something to you. Don't use items or draw symbols just because you read about them. The purpose of a tool is to act as a "mind trigger." The tool helps you keep your focus and reminds you of your goal. For example, if you are casting a spell for money, choose objects that remind you of wealth. You could try a green altar cloth made of a luxurious silk fabric, a gold candle, saffron tea (being the most expensive spice, the smell and taste may remind you of money), or the dollar sign symbol etched on a crystal. Choose mind triggers that have rich connotations so they help your subconscious mind gather its power to send toward your goal.

4. Appeal to as many senses as possible when choosing mind triggers. Try to find at least one trigger for each of the senses: sight (symbols, colors), smell (incense, essential oils, herbals), sound (music, appropriate instrument, chanting), feel (any items or ritual tools that remind you of something that can be touched), taste (herbal teas, bits of food).

5. Time your spell accurately. Check the moon phase to align it with your spell's intent. When choosing a moon phase, the most simple rule of thumb to go by is that waxing (from new to full) moons are for bringing something to you, while waning (from full to new) are for sending something away.

Spellcasting

1. Purify the area, especially indoors, to rid it of any negative vibrations. Before casting your spell, if possible, fume the area with a cleansing incense such as sage or sandalwood, or sprinkle the area with a mixture of salt and water.

2. Purify yourself before casting spells. Take a shower and rub yourself with a sponge sprinkled with sea salt, or soak in a tub that sea salt has been added to. Relax your mind and envision all the negative energy being absorbed into the water and washing down the drain.

3. When casting the spell, envision yourself as already having the thing that you desire. Don't imagine wanting it-- picture what it would be like to have it. Let yourself fully and richly imagine obtaining your desire. Use your mind triggers to help hold this image in your mind for as long as possible.

4. When your spell is complete, try to forget it. Don't think about it or worry about whether it will work. Try to put it out of your mind and relax, allowing the energy you've sent out to take its course in the universe and direct your desire to you.
