Chocolate covered pretzels with almond bark are a popular treat around the holidays. However, using this method, you can easily enjoy them anytime of year. Children love to help with the coating and topping of these treats. All cooking is done in a microwave for ease of preparation. This recipe for chocolate covered pretzels with almond bark makes approximately 2 dozen pretzels.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 stick butter
  • ½ package (8 oz.) chocolate almond bark
  • Microwave-safe bowls
  • ¼ package (4 oz.) vanilla almond bark
  • Cookie sheet
  • Wax paper
  • 1 (8 oz.) bag pretzels
  • Slotted spoon
  • Cooling racks
  • Frosting bag
  1. Step 1

Cut stick of butter into 3 equal pieces. Break the chocolate almond bark into small pieces in a microwave-safe bowl, and add 2/3 of the butter. Break vanilla almond bark into small pieces in a separate bowl, and add remaining 1/3 of butter.

  2. Step 2

Line a cookie sheet with wax paper. Place cooling racks on top of the lined cookie sheet. Melt the chocolate bark in the microwave on high for 1 minute. Remove and stir. Microwave an additional 30 seconds. Remove and stir. Continue this process until the chocolate is completely melted.

  3. Step 3

Add several pretzels to the bowl of melted chocolate. Stir to coat. Use a slotted spoon to remove pretzels. Allow any excess chocolate to drip off. Place on cooling racks to cool and harden. Repeat until all the chocolate is used.

  4. Step 4

Microwave the vanilla bark for 1 minute on high. Remove and stir. Microwave for an additional 30 seconds. Remove and stir. Continue this process until the vanilla bark is completely melted.

  5. Step 5

Pour the melted vanilla bark into the frosting bag. Use the bag to drizzle a zigzag pattern over the chocolate covered pretzels. Allow the pretzels to stand for at least 1 hour.

Tips & Warnings
  • If wax paper is not available, line the cookie sheet with aluminum foil instead. If a frosting bag isn't available, use a heavy Ziploc bag with a corner snipped off to pipe the vanilla bark onto the pretzels. If you are making the chocolate covered pretzels for holiday occasions, add a few drops of food coloring to the vanilla bark mixture. You could create red and green pretzels for Christmas, for example. Do not add more than 4 drops to 4 ounces of vanilla bark, or the mixture may not set. For a variation on this method, cover the pretzels in vanilla almond bark and drizzle chocolate on top instead. You can replace the vanilla bark with peanut butter chips, butterscotch chips, mint chips or any other of your favorite flavors.
