How to Make Pamphlets in Microsoft Office Word

Making pamphlets or brochures in MS Word can be difficult. The page setup will need to reformatted into columns with a break in the middle to account for where the pamphlet fold will go. However, once the margins and column formatting are set, text and images can be added as they would in any Word document.

Instructions

    • 1

Open a new document in Microsoft Word.

    • 2

Click "File" and choose "Page Setup."

    • 3

Click "Margins." Reset the top, bottom, left and right margins to 1/2-inch or ".5" using the arrow keys.

    • 4

Click "Paper Size." Check "Landscape." Click "OK" to save your changes.

    • 5

Click "Format" on the top tool bar. Choose "Columns."

    • 6

Click "Two Columns." Reset the spacing size to 1-inch. Click "OK."

    • 7

Click "Insert" on the top tool bar. Choose "Break." Click "Column Break" and hit "OK." Your pamphlet is formatted to have to columns with a 1-inch break in the middle for the pamphlet fold.

    • 8

Type in the pamphlet's text and insert images as you would a normal Word document. Click "Print" to print the pamphlet after it is finished.

Tips & Warnings

  • To print a two-sided pamphlet, set up an identical Word document as the one above. Type in the information for the back page of the pamphlet. Print the front side of the pamphlet, flip the pamphlet over and print the backside of the pamphlet using the new document file.

  • An easy way to create a brochure in Word is by using a pre-formatted brochure template. Go to the Microsoft Office website and choose Templates. Search for brochures and download the template. Replace the placeholder text with your own text and print.
