Instructions

    • 1

Find a quiet place to sit where you will not be disturbed. This can be in a room of your home, or even a private spot within nature such as in the woods or on a quiet part of a public beach.

    • 2

Sit on the ground in a comfortable position. If sitting is too painful, you may want to lie down on a blanket or even use a comfortable chair.

    • 3

Think only peaceful thoughts as you get situated.

    • 4

      Breathe in and out slowly.

    • 5

Mentally count to 10 in your head. If random thoughts interrupt your counting, then start over at 1. Repeat for as long as you feel physically and mentally comfortable.

    • 6

Stand up slowly when you're done meditating. Your mind will likely be calmer, and as you continually practice you will develop more peace and concentration.

Tips & Warnings

  • You may wish to write thoughts down before and after meditation. Remember that even 1 minute of meditation a day can really help your life.

  • Do not chastise yourself if thoughts continually pop into your head during meditation. Never force yourself to meditate for longer than it is physically comfortable for your body.
