How to Find Someone in the UK
As we get married, change jobs and move, it becomes easy to lose touch with people. However, the Internet has made it much easier both to stay in contact with people and to reconnect with old friends. Websites such as Friends Reunited and Facebook have allowed people both in the UK and elsewhere to stay in touch.

1
Check the phone book. Visit British Telecom's website, Thephone book.com. The website contains the same information as would be found in a standard British Telecom phone book. To search, simply type in the surname of the person you are trying to find and the name of the town where the person lives.
-
2
Type the name of your friend into the Google search engine to try and "Google" them. If you are lucky you may come across your friend's blog and/or site and contact them through that. Your friend's name may come up connected to their place of work or a listing in a newsletter, which can also give you a place in which to try and contact them. To narrow down your results, consider adding the name of the town in which they lived to your search.

3
Check for your friend through some of the social networking sites. Many people nowadays belong to one or more social networking site. In the UK the most popular social networking sites are MySpace, Friendster and Facebook. Simply go the individual social networking sites and do a search for your friend.

4
Connect with your friend on Friends Reunited. In the UK, Friends Reunited is a popular website in which friends from school, neighbors and former workmates are able to reconnect. Simply join the Friends Reunited website and do a search for the person you are looking for.

5
Contact mutual friends. If you are still having trouble finding your friend, see if anyone else might know. Make a list of mutual friends that you may still be in touch with (or if you are no longer in touch, use the above methods to locate them) and find out if they have any way of contacting your friend.
-
6
Call your friend's last known place of work. While it's highly unlikely that your friend's former boss will give you your friend's new contact information, they may be willing to pass on your contact information.

7
Check public records for last known addresses. The easiest way to do this is through the website LookupUK (see Resources below). LookupUK is another popular website for searching for people and allows free access to online census records.
