How to Unfreeze an IPod 30G
Although iPods are usually very reliable devices, they do have moments of technical difficulty. A common problem with iPods is that after frequent use, exposure to extreme temperatures, or other unusual circumstances, the iPod will "freeze." When this happens, the menu will lock, and you will not be able to listen to music or watch videos.

1
Toggle the hold switch. This is the button at the very top of your iPod. Although it may appar to be in the "off" position, iPod switches can get sticky, so simply toggling it a few times may relieve the problem.
-
2
Move to a room temperature location. IPods are very sensitive to extreme cold and heat, and have been known to freeze if the temperature is affecting them. Moving the iPod to a room-temperature location and letting it sit for awhile may help the freezing problem.

Sync it with your computer. Plug your iPod into it's syncing port by connecting it to your computer using your USB cord. Open iTunes to begin the sync. When you do this, the iPod's operating system is reset and rebooted, once the sync is complete.

4
Reset the iPod. If you can't force a reset by syncing. Do this by pressing the "menu" and middle "select" buttons and holding them for ten seconds. Your iPod will blink and then restart if the reset is successful.

5
Perform a system restore. Do this by connecting your iPod to iTunes and selecting the "restore" option under your device. Restoring the iPod will erase all music, videos and photos you have stored on your device.
