Potatoes are a produce item you use all year long. It can be beneficial to buy a bunch of them when they are on sale. When potatoes are not stored properly though they begin to grow eyes and eventually rot. After you make a big purchase, store some of them in some foodsaver bags to avoid this problem. Things You'll Need

  • Potatoes
  • Foodsaver bags
  • Lime
  • Freezer
  • Potato peeler
  • Knife

Instructions

      Peel your potatoes with the potato peeler and then slice them with a knife. Put the potato slices inside of a foodsaver bag, write the date on the front of the bag and store in the freezer.

      Place a few potatoes in each foodsaver bag. Add a squeeze of lime in the bag and zipper shut. Keep the potatoes in a dry, dark place.

      Wash your potatoes and set them inside your foodsaver bags. Make sure you remove all of the air and then zipper shut. Place in the refrigerator for use later on that month.

      Cut your potatoes up in to cubes, place them in your foodsaver bag and sprinkle with spices. Add a few spoonfuls of chopped onions and seal shut. Store in the freezer until you are ready to cook them.
