How to Clean the Jack LaLane Juicer

Fresh juices are easily made with a Jack LaLanne juicer. Some people are intimidated by having to clean the juicer. It's really quite simple, and ideally, it should be cleaned after each use for maximum efficiency. Each model has a different way to disassemble and clean. Instructions should have been included with the juicer when it was purchased.

Things You'll Need:

• Water
• Mild dish washing soap
• Soft-bristle brush
• White Vinegar or lemon juice (optional)

1. Take out the instructions so you can see diagrams of what you're going to do. Unplug the unit from the wall. Take the unit apart, looking at the diagram as you go.

2. Place loose parts in the dishwasher and wash as usual. Or, you can just wash in warm, sudsy water. Use a soft-bristle dish washing brush to remove pieces of pulp. Dry completely before putting the unit back together.

3. Clean the motor base with a damp sponge or dishrag. If your juicer is the classic, model a mixture of water and white vinegar (or lemon juice) will aid in removing the staining inside the receptacle. This mixture also will help remove the stains on the hard plastic parts. Don't get this mixture on the chrome because it may tarnish. Wipe thoroughly with water once you've removed the stubborn stains. Let it dry.

4. Refer to your instructions again, replacing all the elements of the unit. Plug the machine in, and turn it on to flush out any water left in the unit. Be sure it's completely dry on the inside before storing.

Tips & Warnings

• Putting a plastic bag in the pulp catcher eliminates having to wash it after each use. Simply remove and discard after juicing.
