Instructions

    • 1

Decide which style of waterfall you would like to build and purchase the materials at your local home improvement store, garden supply store, or online. The pond liner acts as a reservoir for your indoor waterfall but you can also use a planter or other large container that has been completely sealed. Pond liners look best if they're covered with stone or host fish and plants. Purchase a pump with enough power to send water to the top of your wall in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications. Manufactured stones like pavers are perfect as stacking materials for building a water wall. The river rock is for filling in the reservoir, but you can also create a waterfall by adhering small river rocks to a sheet of Plexiglas and placing it against a wall. Glue your stacked stones to one another with waterproof adhesive like Liquid Nails.

Place your reservoir in the desired location. Stack the stones in a design that fits the space. Full-length indoor waterfalls can be narrow and have an impact, or you could create a low wall, built to fit in a corner.

    • 3

Place the pump in the reservoir. Attach the plastic tubing to the pump and feed it up the back of your water wall or unobtrusively through the stones to the top. Depending on the width of your waterfall, you may need more than one pump for a uniform water flow.

Decorate your reservoir with stones and place plants around the wall for added interest. You can build a water wall around a freestanding fireplace or as a divider between two rooms. Your reservoir is part of the design element and should be considered as you incorporate your waterfall into your home.

    • 5

Fill the reservoir with water, plug in the pump and enjoy your indoor waterfall.

Tips & Warnings

  • Light your waterfall for added enjoyment.

  • Buy more stones than you think you will need. It's easier to return them than to stop in the middle of building your water wall and shop for more material.
