Schmeckel? Is That You?
Schmeckel? Is That You?

You're searching for your old college buddy, Schmeckel McGillicutty. Can't be too hard, right? How many Schmeckel McGillicutty's can there be? But your Google search came up empty. Where to go next? Here's how to deep search the internet, access the 'invisible web', and find people you're looking for.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

    **Don't Overlook the Phone Book**

Superpages.com is an online, national White Pages with millions of listings. Enter the first and last names under the Residential tab, and leave the city/state fields blank for a nation-wide search.

  2. Step 2

    **Ask Intelius**

Intelius.com is the best commercial people look-up site that I've found. They charge a fee, but a preliminary search is free, and will let you know if Mr. McG is in their database.

  3. Step 3

    **Check Thousands of Workplaces**

Jigsaw.com is the deepest directory I know of with contact information in the working world. If Schmeckel's a big fish in a small company, or a small fish in a big company, chances are good he'll show up at Jigsaw. Searching is free, but you'll have to pay (or 'trade' listings by providing new contact information) to see the full details of a listing, if one is found.

  4. Step 4

    **Check with Social Security**

Has Schmeckel passed on? A search for the Social Security Death Index, will take you to the SSDI search page, where you can search on his name. SSDI covers virtually all deaths in the US, so if he's passed, odds are good he'll be listed.

  5. Step 5

Use the Resources section for links to more people-search tools.
