Have you ever wanted to play DVD's on your Wii? Or protect your investment by being able to play Wii game backup disc's? Or be able to download a Wii channel on the internet and put it on your Wii? Well now you can by following these easy steps!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • SD card (less than 2 gig)
  • SD card reader, (for your computer)
  • both files on SD card (download here http://hbc.hackmii.com/)
  • The game Legend of Zelda Twilight Princes
  • Serial # on the game (inside edge of the inner circle)
  1. Step 1
    Wii SD card slot

    Wii SD card slot

Before you get started, if you want to save your twilight Princess saved game you will need to copy it to another location than your Wii. First you want to make sure that your SD card is formatted as FAT, you can do this by right clicking on the drive in "my computer" and selecting "properties". Next unzip the downloaded "twilight-hack-v0.1-beta2.zip" file and copy the "private" file to the root directory on your SD card. After that, unzip the downloaded "the_homebrew_channel-1.0.1.tar.gz" file (to do this you will have to rename it as a .zip file) and copy the "boot.dol" file onto the SD card root directory.

  2. Step 2
    SD card tab

SD card tab "Twilight Hack" file about to be copied

After you do this put both the SD card and Zelda into the Wii. Next on the Wii menu go to "Wii Options", "Data Management", "Save Data", "Wii". Find your saved Zelda file and erase it. You will now want to transfer the "Twilight Hack" file onto your Wii by going to the "SD card" tab at the top and finding the appropriate region file (Europe, Japan, or USA) then copy it over.

  3. Step 3
    Homebrew Channel!!!!!

    Homebrew Channel!!!!!

Now without turning the Wii off go to the main menu and start Zelda. When Zelda starts you will load the appropriate save slot (if your game serial # ends with a 2 then use Twilighthack2 otherwise use Twilighthack0). After you load the game either walk backwards or talk to the man right in front of you. After you do this follow the instructions on the screen and then your done! Your Wii is now open to a multitude of possibilities including running Dvds, playing burned back-up discs, and putting channels onto your Wii for free!

Tips & Warnings
  • Make sure before hand that you download the right "twilight-hack-v0.1-beta2.zip" file as there are two, one for a Wii version 3.4 and one for a Wii version 3.3 and below
  • After you have the homebrew channel on your wii you can run .dol programs (obtained from the internet) from your computer over the network with the "Wii load" file that comes with the "the_homebrew_channel-1.0.1.tar.gz" folder.
  • Make sure you rename "the_homebrew_channel-1.0.1.tar.gz" file to .zip or your computer will not recognize it.
  • Though I have done this to many Wiis and am confident that it will work without any problems I am in no way responsible for a broken Wii. So make sure to follow all the steps carefully and it will work for you!

on 11/10/2009 The ONLY way to copy and play Wii games without a mod chip is explained at:

http://nintendo-wii-homebrew-unlock-hack.blogspot.com/

This method of unlocking Wii is the ONLY soft mod that does not require you to use the Zelda game and IS compatible with all Wii's, including update 4.2!
