  1. Step 1

Grilling out or cooking over a camp fire while camping is fun and a great way to spend time with your family and friends.
If you have family camp site or just grilling out in the back yard you need to makes sure you have prepared the food you want to grill.
Make sure to cook on a clean grill you can scrub the grill plate with a wire brush or if you have a good hot fire going, it will burn away the old grease on the grill. When cooking with a gas grill you can leave the lid closed after grilling for a few minutes and it will burn away the grease. I usually place aluminum foil on top of the grill plate this helps keep it clean.I put a few small slices in the foil to let the grease drain out.

  2. Step 2

If I am cooking over a open fire when camping out I will build a pit fire and get a few large rocks to place the grill plate on.I dig a small hole or pit in the ground and place some rocks around the sides.Remember the rocks can get very hot and might explode if they are to hot.You can splash a little water on the fire to cool it down if your grilling over a camp fire.I like to use a grill plate that has small spaces between the bars so the meat does not fall into the fire when camping out.

  3. Step 3

If I am making hamburgers I like to buy better ground beef so the burgers stay together when grilling. Try to make the hamburger patties gently this will keep in the moisture.I like to add some barbecue sauce it give them a nice taste but you can make them anyway you want. There are hundreds of good hamburger recipes out there. When your grilling chicken the dark meat takes longer to cook. You can also use a thermometer with the chicken 170 degrees and its done on the inside.
