This article is how to remove a stereo from a Ford F-150, but should work for many other vehicles.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Flat head screwdriver
  • Phillips screwdriver
  1. Step 1

Start off by removing the plastic panel that covers the outside of the radio. It should just pull off. There are no screws holding it on. Work slowly around the edges of the panel. Pull a little out at a time until it snaps off.

  2. Step 2

When the panel is off, you will be able to see the two screws on either side that need to come out to pull the stereo out. Remove the screws, and set aside so the do not get lost in the dash.

  3. Step 3

Pull stereo straight out until you can see the wires in the back. There will be one wire for the radio antenna that is solid black, and there will be a plug with many different colored wires. Unplug both, and the stereo will be free.

Tips & Warnings
  • A magnetic screwdriver will help so you don't lose the screws when removing them.
  • Be careful when removing the plastic panel. Too much pressure will crack it!
