Photos can be part of our everyday experience to either keep or share it as memories or to do it as a career. Which ever way you are using it, make the most of it by having fun. Take your time to take the perfect photo and take something worth taking.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Digital camera with a good flash and high megapixels for good quality photos.
  1. Step 1
    Natural Light
    Natural Light

    1. The Lightning:
First thing what you need to remember when you are taking a photo is to make sure that the lightning is falling on the right object. If it’s to dark the picture is going to come out either to white because of the flash, or to dark if you have a weak flash. Make sure that your flash is always on if you are taking photos at night time or indoors where it’s dark.

  2. Step 2

    2. Zooming In/Out:
Make sure that when you are taking the photo, that object is in a position that you will see it clearly on the photos. If your object is too far, it will be too small to see on the photo. If it’s too close, you won’t have a good photo. Make sure that you use your zoom correctly.

  3. Step 3
    Close-Up shot of a flower

    3. Close Up Shots:
If you are taking close up shots like flowers or a bee on a flower, always switch off your flash and switch your camera to macro. This will increase the colour and detail of your object and your will have a better quality and colour photo. (Macro is usually the flower icon on a digital camera). Remember too keep the camera still as possible, to make sure that’s it’s not blurry. Because it’s a close up shot, if you are shaking while taking the photo, you will see it immediately on the photo.

  4. Step 4

    4. Draw Attention To The Object In The Photo:
When you are taking photo’s of indoors objects example: chairs or a vase etc. Try not only to take a photo of the object, but try to get something else in the photo as well. This would make the photo more interesting and you will immediately know what to look for on the photo.

  5. Step 5

    5. Taking Photos Of Your Pets/Animals:
Taking photos of your pets can be tricky because they never seem to sit or lay still especially when they are small. The secret is too remain calm, take your camera and this can take the whole day to get the perfect shot, but you have to sit and take as many shots of them possibly, then when you are done, you can pick the best one of them all. When you also take photos of your pets, the secret is to have as much colour in the photo as possible. Taking a picture of your kitten would look better if you take it in the garden rather than on the carpet.

  6. Step 6

    6. Taking Black And White Photos:
Taking black and white photos can be tricky. Take them in too dark light and you can’t see what is going on, on the photos. Taking them with a too bright flash will increase the brightness on the photo and it will look whitish. Make sure that you are trying to take a black and white photo in natural light. This is usually the best picture.

  7. Step 7

    7. Taking Sepia Photos. (This is a great way of playing around, especially with the camera on your cell phone).
This is the secret to taking really old photos. Sometimes when you take a photo, you will look at the photo, but it won’t seem old at all. The secret is to make sure that the objects you are taking can be related to being old. Can’t take a photo of somebody sitting with old clothes on and he/she has a modern watch on. These are the smaller details that can make or break a great photo.

  8. Step 8

    8. Taking Moving Objects:
Taking a photo of a moving object can be tricky sometimes because most of the time this is bound to come out blurry. When taking a photo of somebody running, switch the camera to the ‘’moving objects’’ setting. This will make it a bit easier to take, however, try to keep still when you are taking the photo. Because the object is already in a moving position, you can’t afford to also move around or shake. The camera lens needs to focus in on the object and then snap the object. This way the object is clear and the background around the object will be in a blurry but moving position.

Tips & Warnings
  • Certain Aspects When Taking A Photo, To Take In Consideration: • When taking a photo through a window, make sure that your reflection isn’t falling on the window, this why you will see yourself on the photo. • Make sure that you never take a photo into the sun. This will blind the lens and the the object will come out black or totally yellowish. • When standing against the sun to take a photo on the ground close to you, make sure that your shadow isn’t falling over the object, this will spoil the photo. • When taking a picture of a bird in a cage, always try not to take the cage or frame into the photo, as this will draw more attention than the actual object does.
  • If you should take a photo into the sun using a old film camera, becareful as the sun's rays and the lens in your camera can damage your eyes!
