How to Make Asian Coleslaw Recipe
Here is an easy & delicious recipe for Asian Cole Slaw or Oriental Salad that I got from my friend, Lisa several years ago. It's good all by itself or as a side. You can even throw in some chicken breast for a complete meal. Enjoy! Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- 1 lb bag prepared coleslaw mix
- 4 scallions, chopped
- 1 3 oz. package of chicken flavored Raman noodles soup
- 1/2 cup canola oil
- 3 TBS sugar
- 3 TBS rice vinegar
- Splash of soy sauce

In a big tupperware bowl, mix the coleslaw, scallions and crushed Ramen Noodles. (The Chicken Flavor Packet will be used for the Dressing, so set that aside). To crush the noodles, I open the bag on one side and slide out the chicken flavoring. Then, I hold the bag closed on that end and used the back of a butter knife to bang on the bag, until the noodles are crushed. Cover the coleslaw mixture and refrigerate.

Dressing: Mix the canola oil, sugar, rice vinegar, chicken flavor packet from noodles & a splash of soy sauce in a small Tupperware bowl and refrigerate.
Mix dressing and refrigerate

Toast the slivered almonds & sesame seeds, either in a pan on the stove for a few minutes, or on a cookie sheet in an oven at 350 for a few minutes.

Toss all ingredients above and serve. Refrigerate any leftovers.

Tips & Warnings
In the summer, I substitute my home grown chives for the scallions.
Purchase pre-toasted Sesame Seeds in the Ethnic Food aisle at your grocery store...not only are they pre-toasted, but they are cheaper than the Sesame Seeds in the Spice aisle.
Make sure to rinse the coleslaw, even though the package says pre-rinsed.
