  • 3/4 cups of raisins
  • 1 tablespoon lemon rind; grated
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 3/4 cup almonds, ground
  • 8oz. filo leaves (aka. Phyllo leaves, pastry leaves or pastry dough)
  • 1-3/4 cups butter, melted
  • 1 cup bread crumbs, finely crushed
  • Syrup (any flavor), honey
  1. Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, mix together apples, raisins, lemon rind, brown sugar, almonds, and cinnamon. Set aside

  2. Step 2

With a kitchen towel, place one filo leaf and brush with the melted butter. Put a second leaf on top, again, brush with the melted butter.

Repeat until all filo leaves have been used. At this point, you should be using already about half a cup of the melted butter.

Sprinkle 3/4 cup cooked crumbs on the made filo leaves.

Brush strudel top with melted butter and sprinkle with 2 tablespoons of crumbs.

Repeat this step for the rest of the strudel.
