Things You'll Need:
- internet
- practice LSAT
-
Step 1
Know the Test!
Before you can be prepared for the LSAT, you need to know what is on it. It is a 3 hour exam with 101 questions on which you can score roughly from a 120 to a 180. A score over 170 generally puts you in the 99th percentile. There are five sections on the test - analytical reasoning, logical reasoning, reading comprehension, writing, and experimental (a mix of all the above.) Next will be how to do your actual LSAT test prep. -
Step 2
Master the Analytical Section of the LSAT!
The analytical reasoning section of the test is almost like a bunch of logic games you need to complete. You will be given a scenario and have to answer questions about it. There are some basic LSAT test prep tips that can follow on these questions. First, draw a picture of the scenario. Then write down all the clues and create an abbreviation for each clue. Also be on the lookout for double negatives and only if situations. Next in terms of LSAT prep is the logical section. -
Step 3
Master the Logical Section of the LSAT!
There are twice as many logical reasoning questions as any others so when you are doing your LSAT prep spend the most time here. When answering these questions first and foremost remember only to consider what is stated in the argument even if your conclusion seems false. The test wants you to make assumptions and if you do you will get the questions wrong. Remember this when doing your LSAT prep. -
Step 4
Master the Reading Comprehension Section of the LSAT!
In this section you will read four passages and answer questions on each passage. Always read the questions first in this section so you know what to look for. Do this during your LSAT prep work as well. Also the questions generally follow certain types: main idea, writer's technique, description, extension, application, and tone. Focus your LSAT prep on those types of questions. -
Step 5
Buy LSAT Prep Materials and Consider an LSAT Prep Class!
Learn from professionals. Although this can be expensive having high LSAT scores can be the make or break for getting into a good law school. You should consider highly at least buying an LSAT prep book but even more taking an LSAT prep class. Testmasters, Kaplan, and Princeton Review are among the most popular LSAT prep courses.
