Step 1
Select a song from your iTunes music collection. The song you select cannot be copy-protected. Right click the song and select Get Info.

Open the Options tab.

In the Start Time box, enter the beginning position for the ringtone.

In the Stop Time box, enter the ending position for the ringtone. The ringtone can be no longer than 40 seconds long. Click OK.

Right click the song and select Create AAC version.

Right click the new song and select Show in Windows Explorer.

Right click the file in Windows Explorer and select Rename. Change the file extension from M4A to M4R.

Drag and drop the song into iTunes. It will be added to iTunes' Ringtones library.

Reset the start and stop time for the original song. Delete the copy of the song you created from iTunes' Music library.
