How to recycle old socks: From making wash
clothes to making cat toys. They can be used again and again. Men's socks, work very well for wash clothes, hanging closet deodorizer, dusting clothes, dish cloth. The ribbing works well to hold bandage till you can get adhesive on it for animal doctoring.
Children's socks work well for drawer sachets and cat toys, and women's socks work well for scenting the undies drawer.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • cotton and catnip: cat toys
  • bar of soap or leftover slivers
  • favorite perfume or potpourri
  • sewing machine or needle and thread
  • flat place to work
  1. Step 1

    Wash do not use fabric softer dry thoroughly. For a cat toy: use a child's sock. Stuff with cotton add catnip, tie or sew the top closed, instant catnip toy.(you can usually find catnip in bulk at a better price then one toy by itself).

  2. Step 2

    Turn socks in-side-out, the numbly inside works well for exfoliating those dead cells form ladies faces , also good for removing that ingrained dirt from children feet after running barefooted outside all day.

  3. Step 3

    For wash clothe: insert bar or slivers of leftover soap. Tie top, cut a hole in ribbing.
    Use this hole to hang from water faucet to dry well after each use. Just rewet it and instant suds. For sachet to hang in closet, cut hole in top, fill with potpourri tie top, slid the hole over hanger hide in back of closet. For drawer sachet, use cotton and favorite scent sew top closed. Put into drawer between clothes.

Tips & Warnings
  • These are a very small sample of the uses for old socks, but it seems as though nobody thinks of these.
  • Mom reused everything ,in this day of little money, it is nice to be able to reuse the stuff you had to pay for, again and again. Each time you reuse these, you save the money and get the pride of recycling too. Pass it on and see the smiles on the faces of the people who don't know "how to recycle old socks".

  • If you decide to wash your wash clothes, please untie and remove ALL soap and rinse thoroughly to prevent soap overload in washing machine.
  • If you want to wash the sachets, remove all product and wash, dry and use again. Keep away from children as too much "smell" might make them sick to their stomach.
