If all your front porch has to offer is a space for guests to knock on your door, then you are not utilizing it to its full potential. A front porch can become a private getaway for you when you need some quiet time by yourself. You simply need to move a few key pieces from inside your home to outside your home. Instructions

    • 1

      Hang a porch swing or a hammock in a corner of your porch. Reserve this section of your porch for your getaway area.

      Nestle pillows made from outdoor fabric in the hammock or on the porch swing.

      Lay a decorative fabric rug made for the outdoors below the hammock or porch swing.

      Place a plant stand or even a charming shabby chic bedside table beside the hammock or porch swing.

      Place a tea set on the bedside table. Arrange lavender plants on the plant stand or at the feet of the tables; add your favorite soothing potted flowers and herbs.

      Fill baskets with a few of your favorite books, a writing journal, a few pens and a box of your favorite chocolates or cookies. Baskets work well because you can pick them up and take them inside with you to refill and to protect the items from overnight inclement weather.
