Things You'll Need:
- Surround sound system
- PC
- Headphone to AV cables (Headphone on one side, Red and white on the other.)
-
Step 1
Headphone to AV cableFirst you will need to get a headphone to av cable. This cable is usually pretty cheap and can be found at almost any electronics store.
-
Step 2
Once you get the cable you will hook the headphone side into your pc. (The plug is usually color coded green on the back of your pc. Check your pc user manual to be sure. It will be the same spot that your computer speakers are plugged into.)
-
Step 3
Next you will plug the red and white plugs into your surround sound receiver. They will be color coded red and white on the back of your receiver. You can plug it into any of the inputs. (The inputs are usually named: video 1, video 2, video 3, aux.)
-
Step 4
Once it is all plugged in turn on your receiver and PC. Change your receivers input to the one that you plugged the av cables into. (If you plugged in to the AUX then switch you receiver to AUX.) After you have done all this you should have sound from your PC to your surround sound.
-
Step 5
To hook it up to a laptop you will just have to hook it to the headphone jack on your laptop and everything else the same.
