Precisely adjusting volume on iPod touch or iPhone using on-screen volume bar is not as easy as it should be. Especially if you have large fingers. For example you want to make music just a bit louder, instead your finger slips and you are blasting full volume. Of course iPhone and 2nd generation iPod touch include dedicated volume buttons, but they are not always within the reach especially you if you have a case that blocks access to these buttons. However there's a super easy trick, and I'm going to tell you here how to take control of your onscreen sliders. This doesn't just apply to the volume, but to the song/movie position bar.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • iPhone (any version)
  • iPod Touch (any version)
  1. Step 1

Power on your device and go to the Music or Video mode

  2. Step 2

Select a song, podcast or an audio book you wish to play if you are in the music mode. If you are in the Video section choose your favorite video.

  3. Step 3

Once music or video starts playing touch round volume control button on the screen just like you would normally do, but instead of sliding it sideways, keep your finger on the glass while sliding it up towards the middle of the screen. Without releasing your finger now move it left or right and volume slider will "magically" follow your movement!

  4. Step 4

Once you have reached desired volume, quickly release your finger. Make sure you lift it straight up. This might take you a few tries but you'll get the hang of this technique quickly.

Tips & Warnings
  • This works for any sliders, even in Youtube application
  • Be careful to move your finger slowly, avoid jerking
