Make Money in College

This article is aimed at ANY student attending college. You can earn a very nice income while still getting an education.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Internet
  • Motivation
  1. Step 1

Work-study. Most Universities participate in a work study program. Work studies are run through your financial aid and are great to make part time income. Most of these programs can be related to your area of study, so your getting valuable work experience. Check with your school' s financial aid department to see if you qualify for this program.

  2. Step 2

Internships. In the past, internships were only a way for students to get hands on work experience and to explore their chosen career field. Now, you still get hands on experience, but a lot of employers now offer a salary for your work. This is especially true for you technology majors out there.

  3. Step 3

Working odds and ends. Post little ads at your local grocery store stating that you are looking to do odd jobs for $10-$15 an hour. You can also try to put an ad up on Craigslist stating your services. This can include mowing lawns, shoveling snow, moving help, painting, etc. There are many opportunities out there for this type of work. Also, you can post ads for areas that you specialize in or you are pursuing a major for (ex: marketing a small business, fixing a computer, etc.). Yes, this DOES work!

  4. Step 4

Tutoring. If you are good at a specific subject, share it! Post an ad on your school' s bulletin board stating you offer tutoring services for some $ per hour.

  5. Step 5

Sell your old stuff. If you have unused Christmas or birthday gifts, or just need to clean out your room or apartment, consider posting ads up on Craigslist in your local area.

  6. Step 6

Loans. If you are really hard up for cash, you can use the extra money from student loans to help you out financially while you attend school. Many times when using the full potential of your financial aid, you have extra funds that will be sent back to you. These funds can range from a couple hundred dollars to a few thousand dollars. *WARNING* You MUST pay these loans back someday, do not overextend yourself when using this technique.

  7. Step 7

Sell your work. If you completed or are enrolled in a class that requires large writings, consider selling them to a website. This will not only make you money, it will motivate you to write extremely good papers. Check out the links below for websites you can sell to.

  8. Step 8

eHow. Last but not least, how could I not mention eHow.com. Write about your experiences on these tips and how to do them differently. Make money off the articles you buy while helping other students.

Tips & Warnings
  • When posting ads for odds and ends, suggest a low hourly rate. Often times your "employer" will give VERY generous tips.
  • Post a high range price on Craigslist for you belongings. If it doesn't sell just re-post again at a lower price.
  • Do NOT overextend yourself on student loans.
  • Be wary of shady "employers" that want you to do "dirty work".
