Where do babies come from? This question has stressed many a parent out. Truthfully, the answer is way less stressful for the asker. Here are some tips to help you make your child understand.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • To remain cool, calm and collected
  • honesty
  • presence of mind
  1. Step 1

Wait until your child asks. My child asked on a crowded airplain. If this happens to you, explain that you will tell him/her in private.

  2. Step 2

Keep it simple sweetheart. Kids are usually satisfied with the basics. If they are ready for more info, they will ask you to elaborate. For instance, your child asks plainly "Where do babies come from?" You should respond "Babies come from sex." Chances are, this is a satisfactory answer. If they ask you what sex is, follow step three.

  3. Step 3

Use real words such as Vagina, and ****. This will let them know that it is serious business. Introduce new words such as Uterus and Ovaries with a brief explanation. Your kids are smarter than you think! Remind your kids that these conversations are private. not secret, but private.

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't let your kids learn things on the playground.
  • Don't let your kids teach things on the playground.
  • Don't assume that your child isn't ready. If he isn't ready, he wouldn't ask.
  • I repeat. USE REAL words.
  • Only answer what your child asks.

on 2/15/2009 Yep very true. I find it amusing that your kid asked you this question on a crowded plane, how adorable. :) And yes, it is good to be honest about it.
