Make Fancy Soap Balls for the Guest Bathroom, Using Already Bought Soap!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 3 bars white soap
  • 2 bars of green, blue, or pink soap
  • Four or five 8 inch squares of fabric
  • A couple yards of satin ribbon
  • Flower petals-optional
  1. Step 1

Cut the 3 bars of white soap and the 2 bars of the colored soap into small pieces and drop into a medium sized bowl. Pour 1 1/2 cups of boiling water, perhaps adding 1 teaspoon of your favorite perfume, over the soap pieces in the bowl. Wait for it to cool a bit and then mix it up a bit with your hands. Let it rest for 20 minutes and then divide the soap into 4 or 5 parts. Roll each part into a ball (Decide now if you want the flower petals or not. If so, then roll the moist ball into the dry flower petals).and put each ball on to a square of fabric. Pull fabric closely around each soap ball. Gather it at the top and tie up with the satin ribbon.

  2. Step 2

Hang the soap balls to dry. The soap will be dry when it is completely hard, about 4 days. When dry, open the fabric and use the soap or give to a friend, rewrapping in the fabric and tying with the ribbon.

  3. Step 3

Gift ideas: if you use white/pink soap or white/blue soap, you can re-wrap the dry soap in colored cellophane and attach to a baby shower gift.

Or buy a small basket, cushion the bottom with shredded paper, put some soap balls and herbal tea packets and a bottle of fragrant bath oil for a nice gift to someone needing some pampering or recovering from the hospital.
