Things You'll Need:
- Wide Tooth Comb
- Normal Comb
- Good Conditioner
- Patience!
-
Step 1
Condition your hair thoroughlyShampoo then condition with a good conditioner, something with serum in it is best. Matrix's Sleek Look would do the trick. Leave your hair wet.
-
Step 2
Grab a very small section, not more than 2 inches wide Grasp the hair between your index and middle finger on your left hand about four inches from the root. this will hold the section together and keep it from pulling the scalp. Tangles hurt! Be extra careful around the nap of the neck as that’s where the hair tends to really get into a ball of knots.
-
Step 3
This comb is perfectUsing a wide tooth comb, start combing the ends first. Work your way up. As you go up the hair section, you’ll gradually free all the tangles from that section. Remember this: start at the ends and work up.
-
Step 4
Coast is clear for normal combing!Once you have the knots in that section removed, repeat in another. Work your way around the entire head. Once you feel the majority are out, you can switch to a regular comb to catch any remaining.
-
Step 5
Loose braiding helps at nightNow the trick is to keep it from being tangled again. Keep it brushed over the course of the day. Most of the tangling will happen as you sleep, so at night, braid it into two loose braids using hair safe rubber bands.

on 5/30/2009 Great advice but instead of using conditoner there is a product called Take Down Remover, specifically designed for knots, tangles and matted hair. Their shampoo is a deep conditioning cleanser as well-it softens the hair really well also.Cheers
