A couple of around the house ideas for cleaning up a mess. Spot cleaning carpets after a new or old spill for a better looking home.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Warm Water
  • Mild Hand/Dish washing soap
  • Towels
  • elbow grease/time
  1. Step 1

First you need to pick up all you can and dry with paper towels by patting, not wiping. Wiping can spread the stain and make it worse.

  2. Step 2

Second get a container with some warm water and mild soap like dishwashing soap a drop will do. Place a rag in the container and then ring it out and begin to pat the stain with your rag, push down to get to the pad underneath.

  3. Step 3

Third use another rag with just water to make sure all that soap gets out.

  4. Step 4

Now, dry with a completely dry towel. And repeat until stain is gone.

  5. Step 5

Lastly vacuum the spot to make sure all that moisture is gone. You can keep spot cleaning even after you vacuum if stain still exsists.

Tips & Warnings
  • Spot cleaning can be done to any stain no matter how old, it will just take more elbow grease to get it clean.
  • Scotchguard certain areas around the door can help prevent more stains from happening(read instructions for product when using).
  • DO NOT USE BLEACH ON CARPET... like other fabrics, you can stain the carpet permanently with bleach.
