Here is a fun crafty Valentine's project. Make small soaps for a gift or for yourself. Use a mild soap such as Ivory soap. If you have scraps of soaps of soap on hand you could recycle them for your own use. If giving the Valentne's soap as a gift I would recommend buying brand new soap. Children can even make this soap with an adult's help. These soaps make a wonderful gift for Valentine's day.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • mild soap
  • small heart shape cutter cutter
  • craft knife
  • netting or tulle
  • Valentine decal
  1. Step 1

Slice a bar of the soap into thin layers with the craft knife.

  2. Step 2

Position the metal heart cookie cutter on a slice of soap and press down to punch out the heart shape.

  3. Step 3

Push out the soap. Decorate with decals secured with a few dots of glue on top of the soap if desired.

  4. Step 4

Wrap up the soap with the netting or tulle. Put soap on a pretty soap dish. Or if giving the soap as a gift put it in a pretty gift box.

Tips & Warnings
  • Tie up the soap at the top with a pretty ribbon.
  • Buy or make a Valentine's card to give with the gift.
  • Give in a pretty box to highlight the Valentine gift.
  • Add the decals for a more creative feel.
  • Use craft glue sparingly.
  • If children are making soap make sure they have parental supervision.
  • Be careful when using a craft knife so as not to get cut.

on 2/10/2009 What a great idea! It's making soap without the mess of actually making the soap.
