First, you must put yourself in the position to eat fruit daily. Purchase a box of Ziploc freezer bags, save money by buying a generic brand of bags or look for coupons.

Eat fruit daily to help prevent disease!

When you buy your groceries for the week, buy 21 servings of fruit and a fruit juice that is 56 ounces (7 cups) or more (100% fruit juice only). You need 56 ounces of juice because a serving is 8 ounces x 7 days and then 3 other servings of fruit x 7 days.

For ideas on fruits and serving sizes see the resource section at the bottom of the page!

  3. Step 3

Plan on drinking 1 cup of juice first thing when you wake up in the morning. For best health practices, enjoy a cup of water as well. Now before you start your day, add your 3 other fruit servings that you will be eating sometime during the day in your zipped bag. As an example, I may add to my ziploc bag a medium apple, banana, and an orange. I will be sure to empty my bag by the end of the day. I try to have one serving at lunch, one as an afternoon snack, and one at dinner.

  4. Step 4

Please give this a try, eat fruit daily, and please comment if it has helped you with your eating habits. I've simply found that if I am able to plan the most important parts of my diet, I have a better rate of success. To save money, be sure to look at the grocery store advertisements before you shop, clip coupons, and consider fresh produce from your closest farmer's market. If the season is right, you may be able to pick your own fruit at a nearby orchard.
