How to Elliminate the Colorado Potato Beetle Naturally
This is an old-time remedy for pest control that my grandma told me about. I had just gotten married and had my first official garden when my potato plants started getting attacked by insects! This is so easy, natural, inexpensive, AND IT WORKS! Does this Spark an idea?

I like to go around and remove as many of the leaves with eggs on them as I can find. You don't have to be super thorough here. The Potato Beetle pest will lay eggs on the underside of the potato leaf. They are a bright yellow-orange color. Simply remove the entire infected leaf and dispose of it promptly. Burning it will ensure that none of the eggs will hatch.

Water all of your potato plants in your garden well. Water sprinklers work well. Give them a good soaking above the ground and down deep in the soil. Make sure all the leaves get wet so the wood ashes will stick to the leaves.

Now, simply take the wood ashes and sprinkle them generously over all the plants. You'll want to continue to sprinkle the ashes every time you water your potatoes in the future until you are sure no more eggs or larvae are left. The eggs that are still present will take 4 to 9 days to hatch and you'll want to ward them off right away. This is such a great organic solution and I'm surprised at how well it works!
