Things You'll Need:
- Phone
- Webcam
- Letters/cards
- Commitment

Step 1
Make sure you set aside time each day to talk on the phone with one another. However, I have found that it is best to only speak on the phone once a day; two times at most. It is easier to get annoyed with each other if you are on the phone, saying, "well, I have nothing else to talk about" over and over. Keeping phone calls down to once a day helps make each conversation more meaningful.

Step 2
Webcams are another way to stay in touch that creates a more significant connection. Being able to see your loved one while you are talking helps you feel closer to them. Even just surfing the internet together or watching the same TV show with your webcams on makes you feel like you are in the same room. Skype and AIM offer free video conferencing.
-
Step 3
Sending a loving letter, small gift, or card through postal mail is an inexpensive and old-fashioned reminder to your loved one that they are in your thoughts. Everyone loves getting 'snail mail'! A small gift can be a reminder of a cheesy inside joke you have together, a little statue of his childhood cartoon character, or a necklace or bracelet they would like.

Step 4
Making something to give in person is another great way to stay close to your loved one- by spending your time apart creating something for that person helps you keep him or her in your daily activities. Make cookies, a blanket, a pillow, or even a frame for a photo.

Step 5
Create a schedule for when you will see each other next. Creating set dates for time together gives you something to look forward to during your time apart.
