Protect your computer from viruses

If you have internet access and do not have up to date anti virus software, it is very possible that you have a computer virus. Follow these steps to help you protect your computer and your personal information.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Anti virus software
  • A computer
  1. Step 1

To determine if you have a virus, you must first install an anti virus software package, such as Norton or McAfee. You can also find various free anti virus packages available online, but they may not be as effective.

  2. Step 2

Set your anti virus software up to automatically download updates from their parent website. Viruses change all the time, you need the most up to date virus detection tools available.

  3. Step 3

Once the software is installed it can perform a scan of your entire system and give you options on how to rid yourself of them.

  4. Step 4

If your computer is still running slowly, you can open up your task manager (control+alt+delete) to see what program is using up your PC time via the processes tab.
