Neti Pots are great to ease allergy symptoms, colds, Chronic Sinusitis and dry sinuses and are very easy to use. You can find Neti Pots at most grocery stores and pharmacy's. They look like little genie lamps.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Net Pot
  • Water
  • Salt
  • Baking Soda

First you will need to fill your neti pot with lukewarm water. Usually a neti pot will hold about 16 oz of water.

  2. Step 2

Next you will need to add your salt and baking soda to your water inside the neti pot. It is best to use salt without iodine. Add 1 teaspoon of salt to the water along with 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda. The baking soda doesn't have to be added but it helps buffer the salt making it gentler on the nose. Now you can shake your neti pot around a bit to mix the salt and baking soda solution.

  3. Step 3

You will want to stand over a sink for this next part. Now with your head tilted at a 45 degree angle to one side you will want to place the neti pot spout into the tip of your top nostril. Tilt the neti pot until water flushes through to the other nostril and runs out into the sink until all the water is emptied out of the pot. After this you will want to sniff gently or blow your nose gently.

  4. Step 4

Next you will want to repeat the same steps as above for your other nostril. After you are finished blow your nose gently.

Clean neti pot for later use.

Tips & Warnings
  • Can be used everyday to prevent chronic sinusitis, allergies, colds.
  • Great natural alternative to taking medication everyday for allergies.
  • You can purchase prepackaged neti pot solution or make your own with 1 Teaspoon salt and 1/2 Teaspoon Baking Soda.
  • If you don't have a neti pot or don't have the money for one use a plastic cup.
  • Water may run down the back of throat - just spit out into sink.
  • be sure to sanitize neti pot after every use.
  • Be sure to blow your nose gently and not too harsh. Blowing your nose to harsh after using the neti pot will cause your ears to pop and sometimes this causes a lot of pressure and is painful. I know this from experience.
