Start an In-Home Tutoring Business

Do you enjoy tutoring students to help them succeed in school? Why not open up your very own in-home tutoring business? Learn how you can start an in-home tutoring business now!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Before opening up your in-home tutoring business, you will need to obtain a business license. Go to your local county courthouse or government to learn more information on it.

  2. Step 2

Once you obtain your in-home tutoring business license, come up a creative name for your business. Create a business account. You will need to have two separate funds: business and personal. Make sure that you are protected by the LLC.

  3. Step 3

Next, make sure that all of your liability is kept strictly to business so that when something goes wrong, you will not be accountable for it. You also need to purchase a liability insurance.

  4. Step 4

Then, get a business phone, some computers, printers, and credit card machine. Leave an area in your house strictly for tutoring purposes. You can also get a cabinet to file your documents.

  5. Step 5

In order to make some decent money, you will need to hire tutors. Set up ads online and in the newspaper for tutors who have credentials and degrees. Make sure that they excel in math, as most students need help in this area.

  6. Step 6

Run a background check to make sure that the tutors you hire do not have any problems.

  7. Step 7
